Sabowl Championship Bowl

It all comes down to this game.  It has been a Sabowl for the ages.  Many around the country are gearing up for Alabama vs. LSU.  This game that has been called by some earlier in the year as “The Game of the Century.”   But actually it is RJ1 vs. Danny/Stephen.  We have watched this rivalry develop all year long. The heated exchanges, the accusations, the emotions will all be left on the field tonight.  (That is probably not true, that will probably still continue past today.)  There will be no question as to who will own the Sabowl after tonight.  Will it be the brash, new Rookie or will it be the second year veteran?

Other elements of the game:

Sabowl I-team investigation:

Unfortunately, we are not without some controversy going into the game.  Similar to the Auburn/Cam Newton scandal, steroids and HGH, and players getting tattoos-we will have a possible issue as well.  The Sabowl I-Team is currently investigating allegations that one of the final championship players may have entered the Sabowl competition illegally and may be ineligible.  We hate that this may be the case but will hopefully know the truth soon.  Look for updates from the I-team in the Locker Room throughout today.

Personal Records:
Since many of us have been eliminated for awhile, we have nothing to play for except our own career records.  Many of us have our eyes set on the Sabowl Hall of Fame one day.  Steps to get into the Sabowl HOF consist of championships, career wins, great Locker Room comments, and making outstanding contributions to the Sabowl.

Toilet Bowl:
The Sabowl is not the only prize at stake in this competition. This prize goes to the last place finisher in the competition.  Although, it is not clear by the updates on our Sabowl spreadsheet, it appears to me that Rebecca has taken this lovely prize home.  Congratulations on that. The questions is whether the Toilet Bowl will make a guest appearance at the wedding.

The actual game:
On a serious note, we do have a game tonight.  It is a much anticipated game to many sports fans and especially to all of the female contestants of the Sabowl.  Here are some things to look for in the game tonight.
Alabama (11-1) vs. LSU (13-0)
ESPN, ESPN 3
Time: 8:20 p.m.
Favorite: Even   *No spreads tonight.  Winner takes all.

Picks:
Danny: Alabama
Joe: LSU
*everyone else does not matter.  Just joking.
Alabama: Michael, Christina, Emily, Jonathan, Ellen, Jimmy, Jim
LSU: Josh, April, Rebecca, Joey

This matchup has created more of a debate for college playoffs.  However, most people would agree that these are the best two teams in the country.  If they have not played each other earlier, there would be no questions.

Each team is led by high profile coaches.  Head coach for Alabama, Nick Saban, has won two national championships.  He is also the former coach at LSU, where he won one of those championships.  LSU head coach, Les Miles, has risen to the ranks of elite coaches in the nation.  He has done this by reinventing himself from a portrayal of a buffoon.

In the previous meeting, LSU won the game 6-3 and left many disappointed with the lack of offense.  Look for many more points tonight as both teams have more time to prepare.

-LSU has a powerful rushing offense that Alabama will have to stop.  LSU prides itself on defense and are led by two All-American cornerbacks, Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne.  Offensively, LSU is led by quarterbacks,  Jordan Jefferson and Jordan Lee.  Jefferson is expected to start.  He missed four games at the start of the season for getting into a fight at a bar. Lee is the better passer while Jefferson give the Tigers more of a run threat and more difficulty to defend.

-Alabama also have a strong offense.  They ranked 30th in total yards, 15th rushing yards, and 17th in points scored.  Side note, LSU also finds a way to score points by ranking 13th in points scored.  Offensive leaders for Alabama are running back Trent Richardson (1583 yards, 20 touchdowns) and A.J. McCarron (66.7 completion percentage, 2400 yards, 16 TDs, and 5 Interceptions).

-Most impressive stat going into the game:  In the last five games have been decided by nine or less points.  Sets us up for another close game.

Lets have a good night.  See you in the Locker Room.

Fitting that this would be one of the best posts of the year. This is what the SABOWL is all about and did I mention that I’m above .500 for the first time in my SABOWL career? Because I am, you laugh but baby steps folks – watch your backs.

Also, I’m surprised there is no mention here of the Kids SABOWL as it comes down to this game as well. Stephen and Mater need to email me or Jonathan (1) their choice of who will win this game (2) their prediction for final score (3) the number of points they think will be scored through fieldgoals. Also, I finished above .500 this year.

I will obtain the SABOWL no matter who wins tonight ,if Danny wins I will break into his house and take it ,then send it away for modifications that’s right Jonathan the team has been on retainer to do the mods, that’s the way we roll in Maryland after all we only live two hours from the most corrupt city in the world.

See what I we have to put up with in Maryland. Thugs!!! Not only do we have the pressure of winning tonight, but now we have to consider our safety. Should we win do we stand up and fight to keep the trophy safe or join the witness protection program and run and hide? I torn because I have always wanted a new name, but Stephen is a serious competitor who is ready to take RJ1 out in the game and on the street if needed.

Stephen will send his Kids Sabowl tie breaking information as soon as Saban and Miles returns his calls. Should not take long, but they are a little busy today.

I have proof in the form of a text message. However, I will demand protection or a snickers bar should I decide to cooperate with this investigation.

How the crap does obama get in the SABOWL post. I’m disappointed. I though Alabama had more class than that.

Are you kidding me? The Sabowl is on the line. The national championship is on the line. And you guys are talking about Rush Limbaugh and President Obama.

Looking good, but certainly do not want to get too confident now. Two quarters is a life time! I do like the 2 score lead or as things are going with these teams a 3 score lead.

Alabama is looking good but remember LSU is a strong 2nd half team. They fell behind Arkansas 14 – 0 and came back to win 41 – 17. They were behind Georgia 10 – 7 at halftime with absolutely no offensive production and came back in the 2nd half to win 42 – 10.

That is why I did not even watch the first half, it would be a waste of time. Lady Jackets instead. They are winning 9-7 with ten minutes to go.

This just in, SABOWL for Kids picks:

    – Jackson Mater – (1) Alabama (2) 33-9 (3) 3
    – Stephen – (1) Alabama (2) 23-20 (3) 15

It’s going to come down to the final score for these kids, Jonboy – I’ll let you declare the winner since you’re a math teacher.

are we using the sum of both scores (for example for Jack 33 + 9 = 42. if there are 42 total points scored in the game then he wins) or are we using the absolute deviation?

      Reply
        1. Jonathan

Glossary: absolute deviation – the absolute value of the difference between 2 numbers (In this context Stephen predicted LSU to score 20 points. If they score 0 the solution would be = |0 – 20|
          = |-20|
          = 20.

I pity the fool that thinks the deadline is anything more than arbitrary. As long as the picks are in before game one, it doesn’t matta suckas. Take your loss like a man (or woman).

    Alabama in red zone.
    Stat of the day:
LSU defense has held team to no score or field goal in red zone 36% of the time this year.

    Locker Room Poll Question:
Which team has the best uniforms? This one is for the girls and anyone here who is interested in Pinterest. Anyone can answer. Just trying to make the girls and anyone here who is interested in Pinterest happy.

LSU with the classy purple and yellow. Good combination and they really make the purple work. They stay consistent and do not try to add gimmicks to the uni.

Alabama with the age old maroon and numbers on the helmet. Classy and old school. They make the maroon look good which is not easy.

Thanks for all of the responses. Great job everyone.

Seriously, since we got a whole lot of response from that question, I will add viewpoint. I personally prefer the Alabama uniforms. I do like LSU as well. There is something about the purple and gold that strikes my eye pallet. I also think that Tigers are one of the best mascots out there. However, Alabama’s uniforms are very classy and they have stuck to it. It an era where teams are uniforms that have been around for ages and changing them for certain games (ie. Smuggie from Notre Dame) Alabama has stayed true to their tradition. One of the main reasons why they won the game.

I want to also remind everyone that I called the fact that the winner will have 10 or less wins. Winning record 25-10.

I think that Jefferson just wanted to get a tackle for his stats so he just threw the ball to the guy.

If anyone still thinks that Alabama should not be the National Champions with this win. Well I dont know what to say about them, but its not good.

You are right. The thing that I think is hilarious is that “I AM A MAN. I AM 40” was talking about how if Oklahoma State was in the game, it would have been a better game. I wish I could have the chance to say to “I AM A MAN. I AM 40” personally and say, “Look I AM A MAN. I AM 40., if you were in the game do you realize that Alabama would not be in and college football would be without that incredible performance?”

He would probably say that what I said was garbage.

I’m going to jump the gun & congratulate Danny/Stephen on their SABOWL Championship. You guys are true SABOWLers & I’m glad to see the SABOWL get away from the budding dynasties.

Jack – nice work kid, the SABOWL is strong with you.

RJ1 – you got SABOWLed, I know the pain of losing in this manner. It’s tough, hang in there.

Me – did I mention I finally finished over .500?

    Great SABOWL everyone.

I-Team has determined to not pursue any more of an investigation towards the Sabowl championship battle. Congrats to Danny and RJ1.

However, I-team is looking into allegations that Rebecca intentionally tanked the Sabowl to be the sole owner of the Toilet Bowl. Sources from Pinterest have informed the I-team. More details to follow.

What an awesome Sabowl season. My Sabowl heart is full. It has been alot of fun and I am glad that we were able to have more people involved this year even though it probably meant that I did not win.

Congratulations to RJ1. Had a great season, similar to LSU, being the favorite and front runner all year but came up short in the end. Welcome to the Sabowl.

Congratulations to first time winner Danny. Perseverence paid off with your championship. Welcome to the winner’s club. It is definitely a elite group.

We had a lot of fun this Sabowl season and will now begin preparations for the new competitive year. We would like to take this time to share our winning game plan with everyone – the magic eight ball!

Good Sabowl everyone. Now on to the NFL playoffs. Since the Colts and Skins are out – Giants all the way. Game to watch Giants vs Green Bay.

      1. Danny

Yes – the eight ball is a joke. Although we did not study each pick like we did last year we made decisions based on current records. There were a few teams that we did not consider this year for playing us like fools last year – one example Virginia Tech. This years chumps are Clemson and Pittsburg – If they are contenders next year we will not pick them. In fact, I think the I Team should investigate both institutions.

It seems like RJ1 is taking the loss very well. The determination to get the Sabowl at any cost is a picture of a true champion. I do foresee championships in his future. Hopefully some of them will be legal.

By the way, what did the damage look like in Hebron last night. Were there any cars flipped over or any other structural damage from the celebrating from Danny/Stephen.

Jack is the Sabowl Kids Champion. Incredibly close tough, Jack was 21 points away from the final score. Stephen was 22 points away from the final score.
